Dynamo Trade With Portland For 11th Pick, Select Will Bruin

Already having snapped up Kofi Sarkodie, the Houston Dynamo traded back into the first round by sending allocation money to the Portland Timbers, then selected forward Will Bruin out of Indiana University.

Another Generation Adidas stud, Bruin was thought to be in the mix for a Top Three selection prior to the draft. Bruin scored 18 goals in just 20 matches this season for Indiana, and piled up 33 goals and nine assists over his three-year career in Bloomington.

It appears likely that Bruin will compete with fellow newcomer Jason Garey to be partnered with Brian Ching up top this year. It’s hard to think of a much better guy to learn the trade at forward from than Ching, so this should be an ideal situation for Bruin.
