Dynamo Place Giant Billboard In Dallas To Remind Them They Don't Have An MLS Team

The Houston Dynamo have won two MLS titles, and FC "Dallas" (Frisco) has won zero. This seems to be the reasoning behind a giant billboard erected in the Metroplex to remind Dallas fans of this fact. For some reason.

The billboard in question - which officially went up Monday and depicts Houston's two MLS Cup trophies next to the words, "Houston, two times better than Dallas" - is located on a stretch of tollway between downtown Dallas and Frisco, near the Trinity Mills Mall.

"We consider them our rivals because the in-state portion and I think Houston in general has a hatred for everything Dallas," Dynamo senior vice president Rocky Harris told MLSsoccer.com. "This year, we wanted to get the passion out on both sides. On Facebook we saw fans were talking up the rivalry. We thought we should tap into what the fans were saying."

Best I can see, there are three problems with this idea.

↵

1) FC Frisco isn't a rival. Rivalries usually develop when both teams are good, and FC Frisco really hasn't established championship-contending credentials since Houston has existed.
2) Two times zero is zero. I get that they may be catering to Dallas minds, so they have to fudge numbers a bit, but that still sounds stupid in my head.
3) In general, it's my belief that everyone from Houston should stay out of Dallas as much as possible. It's just good for the soul, you know?
