After 45 minutes, it is all even in Houston. Dane Richards struck early, netting a goal in the 39th second, the fastest goal in Red Bulls’ history.
The Dynamo were rattled by Richards’ goal, but responded quickly when Brad Davis scored the equalizer in the 13th minute from the penalty spot. The penalty was the result of a hard Rafa Marquez tackle in the box on Will Bruin who had streaked past the Red Bull back line.
After the goals, the play was end to end with both teams creating a number of chances. New York almost regained the lead when Juan Agudelo headed the ball on frame, but Tally Hall plucked it out of the air and just off of the upper 90.
Just a few moments later, Will Bruin nearly scored a goal following a good spell of possession play from Houston. Bruin headed the ball on goal, but Teemu Tainio cleared the ball of the line with a header.
With 45 minutes left, it is hard to see which team will be able to break the deadlock, but both teams will have chances, so it may take a moment of brilliance.
