Dynamo Hope To Add Midfield Depth, Sign Brazilian Luiz Camargo

The Houston Dynamo appear to be on the verge of signing Brazilian midfielder Luiz Camargo, a move that would bolster Houston's depth and attacking power.

In the chatter surrounding the Houston Dynamo's acquisition of Honduran forward Carlos Costly was some static that the team is looking at making a second signing to increase midfield depth and provide a spark in attack.

The mystery player is believed to be Brazilian Luiz Camargo, who is currently on the books with second-division side Parana.

In an interview with Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle, Dynamo president Chris Canetti said, "We are deeply involved in talks with a midfielder and hopefully very close to signing a contract. There’s a lot of positive activity at the moment. We’ve talked about adding attacking players, and hopefully by the end of this week we can say that there are new players."

The Dynamo have scouted Camargo since January, when head coach Dominic Kinnear traveled to Brazil to watch the young midfielder, but the club was unable to make significant progress in negotiations until lately.

Camargo could be the attacking central midfielder that Houston have lacked over the past two seasons since hometown hero Stuart Holden left to join Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League.

While it is hard to tell how far negotiations have advanced, if the Dynamo want to sign Camargo, they will need to do so before the August 15th transfer deadline.
