Per several sources, although Richard Justice was the first to get it up on Twitter, and the Rockets themselves, an MRI showed that Rockets center Yao Ming has a stress fracture in his left ankle.
There continues to be no time-table for his return, and Justice and Houston Chronicle writer Jonathan Feigen have speculated that this may be the end of Yao’s career.
Feigen:
Not in same bone, but same ankle. Wondering now if he’ll ever return.
Yao said the obvious in summer. If can’t stay healthy, can’t keep playing. Is it over?
Justice:
Yao Ming’s career could be over.
An MRI performed today on Rockets center Yao Ming revealed a stress fracture of the Medial Malleolus in his left ankle. The fracture, which is related to his previous injury of the Tarsal Navicular bone, presented itself during the course of his current rehabilitation program. There is no timetable for his return at this time.
