Morey's Signing Of Dalembert Will Help

The thing about the Houston Rockets signing Samuel Dalembert is it was necessary and yet still doesn't end the job Daryl Morey has before him. The Rockets absolutely needed to get a center and work the young guys in. If Jordan Hill or Hasheem Thabeet takes off, Dalembert can lose time without much consequence.

But, this isn't the final move Morey will make. Our resident Dork Elvis has built up a lot of goodwill throughout the years and I totally agree with Mike Kerns in this post over at TDS. Houston fans shouldn't turn on Morey for this move, because he was simply filling out a big hole for this team. It needed to happen and should help new coach Kevin McHale by not forcing him to play young guys who may not be ready and/or pick up bad habits.

Morey shouldn't be totally off the hook, though. As much as I like him and think he's the right man to lead the Rockets, fandom shouldn't keep us from holding him accountable. Morey has gone out of his way for two straight years to land a big star in Houston and struck out. He's missed on any big free agent signings and couldn't pull off any impact trades.

He's still got a lot of assets to deal and teams that will be evaluating constantly over the next month. So, there is still a chance he can make a big move by the trading deadline.
