The Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen reported the same two trades you’ve heard already, but with one interesting twist in the Shane Battier / Hasheem Thabeet trade: the Grizzlies will also get point guard Ishmael Smith.
Smith, who got some run early this year when Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry were both hurting, has spent time in the NBDL this season after signing as an undrafted free agent. The Rockets staff seemed to be pretty high on him, but apparently not that high if they threw him into this trade so easily.
The Rockets will move forward at point guard with Kyle Lowry and the newly acquired Goran Dragic as the rotation.
