More Mindless Speculation About Dwight Howard

I'm sure that with his recent anti-Orlando Sentinel stance, Dwight Howard won't be happy to hear this, but other publications are also discussing what the Magic will do with him. Looking at teams that might be a good fit for Howard. Teams that have good assets to give up. Teams that need a center. You know where I'm going with this, right?

SLAM Magazine filed a list of five places where Howard could end up if he doesn't stay with the Magic. One of them is, you guessed it, your Houston Rockets:

I've said it before and I'll say it again. In Daryl Morey we trust. The Rockets GM has been making his own bit of magic by getting a team that consists of offensive efficiency king Kevin Martin and a handful of good but not great players within playoff contention. The team let Rick Adelman go, perhaps in part to his frustration with the constant tinkering of the roster, so Morey has promised change is going to continue to come from the head coaching position on down. What could Howard do for a team that was ranked third in scoring, seventh in rebounds, first in assists, but also a floundering twenty-second in scoring defense? Wonders.

There really is no better match of need and fit than Dwight Howard in Houston. The Rockets need a new linchpin to their postseason plans in the worst way, and their weakest position is center. With all the attractive players and picks Morey has accumulated, the Rockets should easily be able to tender a competitive offer if Howard is available.

But at this point it's all meaningless speculation. There is no evidence that Howard wants to leave Orlando, let alone that he wants to come to Houston. But until he signs the extension or joins a new team, the speculation will keep going. If you want to end it, Dwight, just tell them to trade you to the Rockets. Then we can all move on with our lives.

Make sure you say Houston though, and not any other cities. That's the important part.
