The folks over at nbaplaybook.com have done a great job highlighting some of the sets and schemes that Kevin McHale could implement with the Rockets' offense next season.
↵It's important to understand that McHale ran the flex offense very frequently in his brief stint as head coach of the Timberwolves, and it sounds like the Rockets have the right personnel to run this offensive set with great success. You need skilled bigs that can play away from the basket in order to run the flex offense effectively. Luis Scola, Patrick Patterson, and now Marcus Morris should be comfortable screening at the wings, thus giving Kevin Martin more room to operate.
↵Kevin Martin is the type of quick, efficient scorer that Daryl Morey has fallen in love with, and he also could be the perfect shooting guard to run McHale's offense smoothly.
↵↵↵"I’m still not sure if McHale was the right hire for Houston, but after watching the tape, you at least understand what Morey saw in McHale and his offense. It seems to be a natural fit."
↵
Daryl Morey always seems to have a plan, and it will be very interesting to see what McHale brings to the table next year.
