The Houston Rockets defeated the New Orleans Hornets by a score of 95-75 on Friday night in the Rockets' second preseason game.
Kevin Martin led all scorers, posting 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting in 28 minutes for the Rockets, who outscored the Hornets 22-10 in the third quarter to put the game away. Newly-acquired big man Omer Asik turned some heads, pulling down 15 rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
Jeremy Lin also had a good night for Houston, dishing seven assists with just two turnovers in 23 minutes, a ratio that was of much concern for Lin last season.
Forward Al-Farouq Aminu led all Hornets with 15 points. The team played without star Eric Gordon and first-overall pick Anthony Davis, who are recovering from injuries. Draft picks Royce White and Jeremy Lamb did not see any time on the floor for the Rockets.
The Rockets have their third home preseason game in a row on Sunday when they host the San Antonio Spurs at 1 p.m. CT.
