NBA Standings 2012: Rockets next-to-last in Southwest Division

The Houston Rockets are currently hovering below .500 and are in fourth place in their division.

The Houston Rockets are currently positioned in fourth place in the Southwest Division. After winning its first two games of the season, Houston has plummeted. The Rockets beat the Chicago Bulls to improve to 5-7, but had to do so to snap a three-game losing streak they suffered on their road trip to visit the Portland Trailblazers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz.

The two teams on top of the Southwest Division are the Memphis Grizzlies and the San Antonio Spurs. The Grizzlies had been on a hot streak, winning eight in a row after dropping their first game of the season. Included in those eight wins were victories over the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder, plus a solid win over the New York Knicks. Memphis's win streak was snapped when they fell to the Denver Nuggets.

The San Antonio Spurs are right behind Memphis at 9-3, although they've dropped two of their last four games to the Knicks and the Clippers. The Mavericks are situated at 7-6, and the Hornets have lost five in a row to drop to 3-7.
