The Houston Rockets (2-0) should return home to a hero's welcome when they face the Portland Trail Blazers (1-1) on Saturday night, after starting the NBA season with a pair of impressive road wins .
In wins over the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks, newly acquired team leader James Harden played the role of hero, producing monstrous games for his new team. Harden scored 37 points and dished out 12 assists in the win over the Pistons, then pumped in 45 points with seven rebounds to help take down the Hawks.
Meanwhile, Harden's backcourt running mate is another new face for the Rockets. Jeremy Lin has averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 assists and 7.0 rebounds in the two games. The home crowd at the Toyota Center should be plenty amped up to see the new players take on the Blazers.
Portland arrives in Houston for the second game in as many nights after losing, 106-92, to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. The Blazers beat the Los Angeles Lakers in their season opener on Wednesday. Exciting rookie point guard Damian Lillard has been impressive in his first two NBA games, averaging 22 points and nine assists for the Blazers.
The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. ET from the Toyota Center and will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Houston.
