The San Antonio Spurs defense is shutting down the Houston Rockets offense through one half of play, and hold a 57-45 lead. The Spurs are holding the Rockets to just 34 percent shooting from the field. Houston is relying on their three-point shooting to keep them in the game, but that is not working as they have made only 4-of-15 from the field.
The Rockets have not been able to slow down the Spurs who have made 52 percent of their first half shots. San Antonio was off to the races at the start of this game and rattled off a 12-2 run within the first three and a half minutes of the first quarter.
Houston countered with a 11-2 run, which was all James Harden, to make it a 14-13 game. The Spurs pulled away one more time by going on an 11-0 run that spanned the final 90 seconds of the first quarter, and the first 90 seconds of the second quarter. After that second scoring spurt by the Spurs they remained in control of the game.
Harden is the the only Houston player in double figures with 20 points, but it has not been enough to keep them in this game.
