Rockets Roster Scenarios: Eric Gordon for Kevin Martin

Let's play out a little farce. It's not going to happen, but let's say it does.

↵

Let's say the Rockets pick up Pau Gasol from the Lakers for Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic. They'd keep Kyle Lowry to pair with Pau, but don't they still need another scoring threat? What if they add a healthy Eric Gordon?

↵

Gordon and Jarret Jack for Jordan Hill, Pat Patterson and Marcus Morrisworks under the cap, gives New Orleans some young guys to build around, two of which who are under control past this season and replaces K-Mart's scoring prowess.

↵

I know, the problems are many. How does Stern approve this trade when he rejected it to hold out for Gordon in the first place? Plus, Gordon is injured and may not recover in time to be in play. Plus, Gordon is probably going to sign with Indiana, his home state, after he reaches free agency.

↵

But, Gordon replacing K-Mart might actually make Houston's roster better. He's a better defender than Martin and is just as good a scorer. He'd also work as a second or third option with his shooting touch.

↵

So, who walks away from this scenario? Is that enough for New Orleans? Do the Rockets pull something like this off, even though it guts them of all those promising players? Is a trio of Lowry-Gasol-Gordon enough to compete in the West playoffs?
