Overtime was needed to decide the winner between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, and it was the Clippers who were the victors winning 105-103. Kevin Martin led the Rockets by scoring 26 points as he was one of six Houston players to score in double figures. Martin needed 22 shots to get to his 26 points as he went 6-of-22 from the field, but it was his free throw shooting that saved him as he made all 10 attempts.
The Rockets had a small lead for a good portion of the game but they could not create any separation as the largest lead they had was five points. The fourth quarter was different as the Clippers were able to go ahead and build a six-point lead with just under five minutes to go in the game. Courtney Lee responded by scoring the next five points to get the Rockets back in this game.
The Rockets had a chance to win in regulation when Samuel Dalembert went to the free throw line down one with 18 seconds but he only made one of two.
In overtime the Rockets went up 103-100 on a Lee two-point shot with 1:34 left, but that would be the last points of the game for the Rockets. The Clippers would go on to score the next five points to take a two-point lead. The Rockets did have two chances to tie the game but Martin missed a jumper and Dalembert missed a put back as time expired.
