With their first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft sitting at No. 14, the Rocket have expressed interest in moving up.
However, it's going to be quite hard. General manager Daryl Morey told the Houston Chronicle they would like to move up a lot, but that it will be unlikely.
"I think it's always hard," Morey said of making a significant move up in the draft. "I think teams fall in love with who they might get so it's very hard, unless you're already top-10, to move within the top-10. I think if there is a move up option it will be for a couple spots versus a big leap. We would like to move quite a bit up but I think that's unrealistic.
The good news for the Rockets is that after the first few picks, the talent level flattens out, so someone they have highly-rated could fall to them, as Patrick Patterson did in 2010.
