Rockets Offseason 2012: Houston Shows Interest In Scott Machado

After all the lights were shut off at the Prudential Center following the 2012 NBA Draft on Thursday night, most of the big names went home happy, knowing they were about to become millionaires.

Scott Machado, a 6-foot-2, 200 pound point guard from Iona wasn't expected to become a millionaire quite yet, but most thought he would be drafted. However, it turns out those people were wrong.

Many pundits thought Machado was going to be selected in the second round with the notion he would develop into a role player with time. Now, Machado is probably the highest-ranked undrafted free agent, drawing interest from multiple teams, according to the New York Post.

The Houston Rockets are rumored to have shown interest in Machado, and it certainly wouldn't be a bad move to take a look. Machado could join the young nucleus of players Houston is trying to develop and maybe become a valuable piece down the road.

Machado led the nation with 9.9 assists per game in 2011-12 for the Gaels. He was the catalyst to their NCAA Tournament berth and could be a nice pickup for someone looking to strengthen their bench.
