The Rockets were rumored to be involved in intense trade discussions with the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday involving Luis Scola. Those talks reportedly broke down late on Saturday and it might not be a coincidence that Dwight Howard has reportedly requested that new Magic GM Rob Hennigan trade him to Brooklyn.
Although Hennigan was reportedly non-committal it is looking more and more likely that the Magic will be forced to move their disgruntled star or risk losing him for nothing. Brooklyn might not be the best trade partner for the Magic but they may be the lone team that Howard will agree to sign an extension with if traded.
The Rockets are currently exploring all of their options and are still interested in acquiring Howard for themselves. The Rockets still believe that if they can get Howard as a rental they can convince him to sign a long term extension with the club.
