While the Dwight Howard talk has suffocated everything else revolving around the Houston Rockets, the team is still involved in a delicate process with restricted free agents Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik.
The Rockets agreed to a deal with both during the waiting period, but they are reportedly waiting on giving Asik his offer sheet until there's a decision from the New York Knicks regarding Lin:
Rockets will sign Omer Asik to his offer sheet after New York matches or - ahem - chooses not to.

Once an RFA signs an offer sheet, his original team has three days to decide whether or not to match the contract, with his salary becoming a cap hold on his new team for the time being.
Houston would rather not have both Lin and Asik on their books while they are negotiating a deal for Howard, especially since the cap space they can use to absorb some of the Orlando Magic's bad contracts is one of their main selling points.
