Jeremy Lin: 'Honestly, I Would Have Preferred New York'

In a revealing interview with SI.com, the newest Houston Rocket opened up about the free agent process and gave several interesting quotes:

"Honestly, I preferred New York," Lin says. "But my main goal in free agency was to go to a team that had plans for me and wanted me. I wanted to have fun playing basketball. ... Now I'm definitely relieved."

This is a great example of why honesty is pretty overrated when it comes to athletes and the media.

That being said, it's pretty obvious to even the most casual observer that while Lin wanted to stay in New York, the Knicks weren't nearly as interested in bringing him back.

The NBA is a business, as Lin assuredly realized when he was cut by both the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets in the span of less than a season.

He'll certainly have plenty of motivation as a Rocket, and I imagine the next time he gives an interview, he'll be gushing about the franchise and his future with it.
