Houston Rockets Add Scott Machado To Summer League Team

While most of the headlines surrounding the Houston Rockets in free agency have centered around Goran Dragic and Jeremy Lin, the team quietly signed an extremely interesting undrafted free agent to their summer-league team earlier in the week:

Machado was widely expected to be a second-round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, and I had him as the top undrafted free agent available:

I'm not sure what UNC's Kendall Marshall did, besides have much better teammates, to be viewed as such a better prospect than Machado. At 6'1'' and 205 pounds, Machado is athletic enough to be an NBA PG while putting up absolutely absurd statistics in college: 13.6 points on 49.5-percent shooting and 40.4-percent from deep, 4.9 rebounds and 9.9 assists on 2.6 turnovers a game.

Lin, another small-school PG who the NBA overlooked on draft night, turned a Summer League appearance into a $30 million contract offer in two seasons; Machado has the talent to do that as well.
