2012 Pro Basketball Hall Of Fame: Ralph Sampson Valued The Game Of Basketball

Former Houston Rockets great Ralph Sampson was inducted to the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday night. Sampson could not express in words how much this honor meant to him by reaching this pinnacle.

Sampson said that in junior high, he played on an eight-foot basket and any given player could only score 16 points. At that age, he was already 6-foot-4 and scoring 16 points was easy. That was when Sampson learned other skills such as rebounding and blocking shots and when he became an improved dribbler, which helped him become a better more all-around player.

He also said he learned to love the game of basketball more as he got older. Once he valued and respected the game, he said he was able to start mastering it.
