With the Houston Texans all but officially eliminated from the AFC South division championship race, the talk has turned to shutting down wounded players to prevent further injury.
With the move to place DE Mario Williams, WR David Anderson, and OG Mike Brisiel on injured reserve, the Texans are doing their part to protect their players. The chatter among Texans bloggers on Twitter then focused on WR Andre Johnson and his nagging ankle sprain. Johnson addressed shutting himself down with reporters after practice today.
"I’m going to play the season out unless the ankle is broken," Johnson said. According to Nick Scurfield, Johnson also said the ankle shouldn't need surgery but should heal from rest this offseason.
With a rematch against Tennessee Titans CB Cortland Finnegan on Sunday, most people knew Johnson wouldn't miss a chance to go against his scrappy rival. As for his reaction should Finnegan, who issued an apology to Johnson earlier this week, try to instigate anything on Sunday?
"I wouldn’t do anything," Johnson said. "I would probably just laugh it off."
