Arian Foster Can Dance If He Wants To

New, 3 comments

Texans running back Arian Foster wanted to let his fans know last night--he's officially starting his campaign to join Dancing With The Stars. The ABC TV show, which I have never watched and don't really know much of the details on, has previously been the home to other athletes such as Chad Ochocinco, Emmitt Smith, and Jason Taylor

As an informed football viewer, and I'm taking nothing away from Foster here, it seemed to me like his biggest problem last year was footwork. He stumbled on the turf quite a few times on his way to big gains that would never be. He'd arguably be the most intelligent athlete ever on the show, of course, and that would help him out a bit.

I know a lot of people would take this news and say something along the lines of "What if he gets hurt? You can't allow him to do this!" but really this is the player's choice. The Texans have many reasons not to tick Foster off this offseason, such as him being an exclusive rights free agent that could potentially hold out for more money. A lot more money. If a player wants to put his livelihood at stake just to try their hand at dancing, I'm all for it anyway. But especially in this scenario, where the Texans have everything to lose by potentially angering Foster, they should be willing to let him dance if he wants to.

Just don't do the safety dance, Arian. That dance isn't as safe as they say it is.
