What Is Kevin Walter's Fantasy Value?

As the No. 2 receiver in Houston for pretty much the entirety of Gary Kubiak's tenure in Houston, Kevin Walter has some standing in the fantasy community. With Andre Johnson's injury, you'd expect that value would just increase as he takes over as the top receiver in the offense.

Except, that's not how it works. Just look at how guys like Alvin Harper have fared when teams try to elevate a No. 2 receiver to a go-to guy through free agency. Walter does not have the skills to demand a double team or take pressure off other receivers. He's good at what he does, which is catch passes and block downfield. That doesn't make him a No. 1, though.

There's no question that Andre Johnson's injury upped his production against the Raiders, but will it continue? After coming back from his bruised collarbone, Walter scored a touchdown and caught three passes against the Saints. He was then shut out against the Steelers before catching five passes for 81 yards and a touchdown against Oakland.

That's why Walter's value isn't as high as it should be, because the Texan offense won't look to him consistently enough. Of course, he wasn't looked to hardly at all with AJ healthy, so if you were ever going to use Walter, it's now.
