Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 8

Who's got the biggest shot at making an impact this week on the waiver wire? Let's run through a couple of possibilities...

Joel Dreesen, TE: With James Casey's injury affecting the Texans offense, Dreesen has gotten a bigger share of the targets from Matt Schaub. He's also scored the past two weeks and makes a nice option on the waiver wire if you're in need of a bye week fill-in at tight end. However, once Andre Johnson and Casey return, Dreesen probably moves back into his spot as the also-ran blocking tight end in this offense.

Houston D/ST: Not many sacks this week and with Danieal Manning's injury, the Texans had to deal with a less reliable secondary. Still, they got a defensive score last week and were able to pressure the quarterback with just four-man fronts. Johnathan Joseph is a ballhawk who will get chances for turnovers and with Houston playing Jacksonville this week, the Texans defense makes some sense as a start.

Ben Tate, RB: Again, if you're in need of a bye week fill-in, it looks like Tate is going to be a big part of this offense moving forward. I wouldn't expect a 100-yard game out of him all the time with Arian Foster healthy, but Tate should be good enough to start against Jacksonville.
