Donovan McNabb Waived By Vikings; Texans Not Expected To Make Claim

While the Minnesota Vikings have reportedly waived veteran QB Donovan McNabb Thursday, the Houston Texans are not expected to make a claim for the long-time veteran, despite their own chaotic QB situation.

Houston does not have the $1.5 million in cap space necessary to claim McNabb off waivers, and several contending teams, like the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys, have unsettled backup QB situations and both tried to claim Kyle Orton on waivers last week.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak has indicated he will go with rookie fifth-round pick T.J. Yates as the starter, but both of Yates' back-ups -- Kellen Clemens and Jake Delhomme -- have been on the roster for less than two weeks and neither has thrown an NFL pass this season.

If McNabb makes it through the waiver process the story out of Houston might change, but for now the Texans have indicated they are satisfied with their QB threesome for now.
