Week 17 NFL Power Rankings: Texans Remain In Top 10 Despite Loss

The Houston Texans are a depleted team heading into the final week of the regular season. They're still a 10-5 team that is playoff bound, which means good things in terms of power rankings.

The Houston Texans head into the final week of the 2011 NFL regular season knowing that they'll be crowned the AFC South Champ and hold the No. 3 seed in the playoffs. Still, it has been a rough couple of weeks. They suffered a lopsided home loss to the Carolina Panthers and then ended up on the losing side of what was only the second Indianapolis Colts win of the season.

To make matters worse, they're on their third-string quarterback as the season winds down. The Week 17 SB Nation power rankings are out, with the Texans understandably taking a hit. Joel Thorman has this to say:

9. Houston Texans (10-5, LW: 7): You almost feel bad for the Texans. This is their year to finally make the playoffs and they lose their top two quarterbacks. We'll see what T.J. Yates can do in January.

The 10-5 record and postseason berth is more than enough for Houston to stay embedded in the top 10, but many Texans fans are likely holding their breath as their banged-up team gets ready for what will likely be a tough postseason.
