This won't be the only recognition standout defensive tackle J.J. Watt receives this season, including a possible Pro Bowl appearance if some people drop out. But, first things first as the former Wisconsin star was named to the Football Outsiders All-Rookie team.
↵The Texans defense has been much improved this season. A lot of that credit can go to new coordinator Wade Phillips' scheme, but it also goes to Watt for solidifying the defensive line. He's constantly moving, leads all rookie defensive linemen in tackles through Week 16 and even gets the occasional sack.
↵Punter Brett Hartmann also made the team, even though his season ended early thanks to a torn ACL. No mention of Brooks Reed, but it was a tough year for outside linebackers, with Pro Bowl starter Von Miller on one side and Ryan Kerrigan on the other.
↵A good year overall for this Texans rookie class and both Hartmann and Watt look like they can stay around for a while.
