With the Houston Texans down to their third-string quarterback in T.J. Yates, this could mean that Arian Foster will be getting a lot more carries to elevate the pressure off of Yates. Foster is already a must start when he is healthy, however this week could present a challenge as the Falcons are one of the best teams against the run in the NFL.
CBS Sports fantasy department takes a closer look at Foster's potential this week:
After three straight games with more than 110 rushing yards, Texans RB Arian Foster has gone two straight with less than 85. He had only 65 last week at Jacksonville, averaging less than 3.0 per carry for the first time all season. That's especially disconcerting given his opponent in Week 13. The visiting Falcons have the league's second-ranked run defense, giving 83.5 yards per game, and haven't allowed more than 70 rushing yards to any running back since Week 3. Of course, Foster figures to handle even more of the offensive load than usual with rookie QB T.J. Yates, a third-stringer two games ago, making his first NFL start.
Even with Foster somewhat in a slump and facing the Falcons are good against the run, SB Nations fantasy sports blog Fake Teams ranks Foster as the No. 4 back this week, and numberFire is slightly hire on Foster and have him ranked as the No. 3 back and the difference is negligible between the first three spots.
