After injuring his other hamstring in the Houston Texans 17-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday, WR Andre Johnson has been ruled out of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday:
ClaytonESPN John ClaytonAdrian Peterson and Christian Ponder are questionable but could play. Peterson has the better chance. Andre Johnson is out.
There's no work on his projected timetable to return, but the Houston training staff is likely to be incredibly cautious with their All-Pro WR, as hamstring injuries are notoriously easy to re-aggravate.
With a two-game lead on Tennessee and only four games left in the NFL season, the Texans may be able to hold Johnson out until the start of the NFL playoffs.
Without Johnson, the Texans emphasized the ground game even more while rookie QB T.J. Yates targeted Houston's tight ends in the passing game, almost completely ignoring the Texans' other WR's.
Kevin Walter, who caught one ball for 12 yards against the Falcons, was the only WR besides Johnson to catch a pass from Yates.
