2011 NFL Mock Draft: The Real Texans Roundup

While I did a quick looksee Friday on a few mock drafts that I fully trust to deliver the goods, Chris over at Houston Diehards has painstakingly compiled a list of 40 separate mock drafts and who they have sliding to the Texans at #11 overall. The conclusion was much like the one I came up with earlier: Aldon Smith is the early leader in the Mock Draft clubhouse for Houston. Here's the breakdown that Chris came up with:

Texans Pick/Times Picked/Percentage of Selection
Aldon Smith DE/OLB Missouri / 8 / 20%
Cameron Jordan DE California / 6 / 15%
Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska / 5 / 13%
Von Miller OLB Texas A&M / 5 / 13%
Akeem Ayers OLB UCLA / 4 / 10%
Jimmy Smith CB Colorado / 3 / 8%
Marcell Dareus DL Alabama / 3 / 8%
Robert Quinn OLB North Carolina / 3 / 8%
Julio Jones WR Alabama / 1 / 3%
Justin Houston OLB Georgia / 1 / 3%
Ryan Kerrigan DE/OLB Purdue / 1 / 3%

I'm a little surprised to see Miller have so many votes, mostly because I expect him to go much higher than #11. Again, this is mainly focused on defensive players. The pick of Jones by Mel Kiper Jr. continues to be the only one on the offensive side of the ball. Most of the time these picks are focused on the 3-4 OLB hole, although every once in awhile, the drafter will take the simple logic that poor secondary + youth = not a poor secondary. For some reason.
