With the 95th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers selected University of Texas cornerback Curtis Brown.
It sure seems like the Steelers always take a Longhorn or two, right? As Brown begins his travels from Austin to Pittsburgh, he should get a chance to crack the rotation – especially if Pittsburgh does not resign Ike Taylor who will hit free agency whenever the league ends its lockout.
Brown, who has good size and speed, falls because, in my opinion, he overthinks the play. If he relied on his instincts, he could probably make some more plays on the ball. He has the physical capabilities and if any defensive coordinator can bring out the most in Brown it’s Dick LeBeau. It also will not hurt Curtis Brown that he will play next to disruptive playmaker Troy Polamalu and behind the vaunted zone blitz of the Steelers. This is a great situation for Brown to land in.
