Local Prospects: TCU WR Jeremy Kerley Drafted By New York Jets

Jeremy Kerley is headed for the big city. The TCU product was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round, 153rd overall.

Kerley was a standout wide receiver at TCU, and was also quite the return specialist. He is slight of frame at only 5'9", and 185 pounds, but has an excellent football IQ. As a punt returner, Kerley finished 13th in the nation with a 13.9 average.

Despite not having elite, top-end speed, Kerley is consistent in his ability to gain separation from defenders. He's adept at catching the ball in traffic, even in a dead sprint. He's got fluid hips and is extremely shifty after the catch.

Of course, Kerley is undersized. He will have quite a learning curve in order to become a consistent contributor in the NFL as a wide receiver. His return skills, however, could get him on the field a lot as a rookie.
