2011 NFL Draft Prospects: TCU DB Malcolm Williams Is A New England Patriot

Yet another TCU Horned Frog is on his way to the NFL.

Following college teammates Marcus Cannon, Andy Dalton, Jeremy Kerley, and Colin Jones, defensive back Malcolm Williams is the fifth TCU player to hear his name called in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Williams, (5'10", 204 pounds) had a very solid Pro Day, showing good measurables with a 4.47 40-yard dash, but really turned heads with his 40-inch vertical jump.

The Patriots will like his versatility, as he played both cornerback and safety in college. Of course, his best chance to make a name for himself in New England will be on special teams.

New England certainly had their struggles on defense in 2010, but with one of the best rookies from last year in Devin McCourty, and the selection of Virginia cornerback Ras-I Dowling at the top of the second round, the Patriot secondary is definitely on the upswing.

Don't expect Williams to blow up the depth chart at corner or safety, but if he can make an impact on special teams, he may have an outside shot of making the final 2011 roster.
