If you guys want to know the real way to judge a draft, try judging one that happened years ago, like John Harris did over at A View From The Sideline yesterday. You know, after watching tape and games. Seeing what players do. I hear that makes things a lot easier.
↵For the Texans brilliant class of Amobi Okoye, Jacoby Jones, Fred Bennett, Brandon Harrison, Brandon Frye, Kasey Studdard, and Zac Diles (but he's so cost-effective!) the Texans received a sterling D- grade. Here's what Harris had to say about them:
↵↵↵Amobi Okoye is a bust and a half. After the first four games of his career, he's not been good at all. Jacoby Jones was a surprise in the 3rd round and has had his moments. Zac Diles started for a while, but then lost his job in 2010. Sure, the Texans used the second round pick to send to Atlanta to get Matt Schaub, but this is about how the team drafted on draft day. And, the results haven't been good.
↵
It should be fascinating to see what happens to Okoye when he's released. As much flack as the Texans have taken for bad coaching on defense, they haven't exactly cut many guys who have gone on to start for other teams recently. Jason Babin stumbled around the league for years before Jim Washburn turned him around in Tennessee, and we all know how I feel about Dunta Robinson being overpaid by the Falcons so there's no need to go over that. C.C. Brown is the only other one that comes to mind, and he's one of the worst cover safeties in the NFL Jacques Reeves couldn't find a gig, Fred Bennett couldn't either. Is it the coaching or is it the talent?
