Houston Texans Training Camp Updates

There are a ton of people covering the Texans' training camp. I, unfortunately, am not one of them, but I can provide you with a roundup of all the other reports from people who are better reporters than I.

First up, the excellent work going on at Battle Red Blog. J.J. Watt is impressive, Steve Slaton fumbled and Earl Mitchell may do well in this new system. There's a lot more, so go read the whole thing. Incidentally, after being lukewarm on the Watt pick when it happened (mainly b/c I was sad about the lockout rather than sad about Watt joining the Texans), I'm getting excited about him as I read more reports like this one. It'll be fun having a defense that doesn't make me wince every game.

McClain does his thing at the Chronicle, including a note on how Matt Leinert is doing. I've heard Leinert is about to break out since he was drafted and he never has, so I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully, we won't have to see him do anything but kneel down at the end of a blowout.

On the bad side, multiple reports are coming out about Gary Kubiak calling out Brian Cushing. His slow recovery is not a great sign and I tend to side with Kubes on this. With a new defense being installed, Cushing could really, REALLY use these reps.

Nothing recent from Steph Stradley, except a rundown of the tailgating rules. Still, she does good work and deserves a mention here.

One last note on Watt...is he dominating because he's really that talented? Or is the Texans right side of the line just regressing?
