Ben Tate, Steve Slaton, Arian Foster All Unlikely To Play Monday Night

Nick Scurfield of houstontexans.com is reporting that all three running backs will miss the Texans preseason opener against the New York Jets tomorrow night.

Tate, Slaton, and Foster are all being sidelined with hamstring injuries, and there's really no reason to risk any further injuries with these three backs. Gary Kubiak seems to be worried about Ben Tate's future:

"Tate just hasn’t come along. Everybody thought he could – our trainers, our doctors – but he hasn’t. So, we’ll listen to him. Arian, we’ve been shooting for next week with Arian the whole time."

Kubiak plans to use Derrick Ward, Chris Ogbonnaya, and recently signed free agent Javarris Williams in the backfield on Monday night. He has also stated that most of the starters will only play 10-12 snaps.

Ogbonnaya has looked great running the ball all week at training camp, and he could challenge for a roster spot with a strong preseason. While Arian Foster and Derrick Ward surely have nothing to worry about, the battle for the remaining running back roster spots looks very intriguing.
