Don't assume that just because Rivers McCown wrote the article referenced here for ESPN, it means that he was easier on the Texans just because he's a fan. Nay, Rivers plays it straight and always has.
↵He just happens to have some nice things to say about Houston here:
↵↵↵When a team overcomes a significant number of injuries and still goes 10-6, it's a pretty good sign that they've accumulated good young depth
↵
He lists T.J. Yates and Ben Tate specifically, as well as the dynamic linebackers in Wade Phillips' defense. He calls Brian Cushing one of the top five inside linebackers in football, and he's probably not far off. The interesting thing here is looking at what he said about Jacksonville's Tyson Alualu.
↵He says while Alualu is a nice player, he doesn't provide the star power you expect from a 10th overall pick. Let's push that to the Texans, who picked J.J. Watt at No. 11. Watt has definitely proved towards the end of the season that he has the star power to be a solid player in this defense. He may not have been a sexy pick, but he's more than made up for it since.
↵Just one more reason to like the Texans' chances next season, I guess.
