NFL Draft 2012: Lance Z's Top 50 Offensive Prospects

Chron.com super-blogger Lance Zeirlein put together a list of his top 50 offensive prospects in the upcoming draft. It's a great starting point for a lot of discussions, because Lance also adds projected draft rounds alongside each player.

Now, these draft rounds are his recommendations, not where he thinks they will actually get drafted. After all, he lists Alshon Jeffery in the second round. There's certainly a chance that happens if the South Carolina wideout does not run well at the combine.

↵

But, more than likely, his size and flashes of play this season will get him picked in the first round, probably ahead of both Baylor's Kendall Wright and Notre Dame's Michael Floyd. That's important for Houston, since Z is higher on both of those guys and ranks them in the Top 10 in the entire draft, but they both may be available when Houston selects at No. 26.

A couple of Aggies show up on his list, as Ryan Tannehill is listed as a second round pick and Cyrus Gray is a 2nd/3rd round tweener. Tannehill could easily shoot up on the list if a team falls in love with him, but not being able to play in the Senior Bowl thanks to a broken foot will hurt his stock. Gray also fits well in that range, though I bet he goes more towards the third round. Ultimately, I think his upside is as second, change-of-pace back instead of getting a starter's workload.

Overall, another great resource to start out your draft preparations.
