The Houston Texans opened as favorites to win their weekly matchup yet again, this time opening up as 4.5-point favorites on the road against the New York Jets. The Texans have been favorites in every week so far this season and have been double-digit favorites twice.
The line did not stay at 4.5 for long. In fact, the Texans are listed as eight- or nine-point favorites as of this moment, per Odds Shark.
The total points scored for Monday night's showdown opened at an even 41 points. There hasn't been signifcant line movement, however, as various books have moved the points total up by 0.5.
That is interesting to note, given the Jets will be without their top defensive player in cornerback Darrelle Revis and will also be missing their best wide receiver in Santonio Holmes. On the other hand, the Texans defense has been stout throughout the year and the offense is full of several big-time skill players.
After scoring 48 in their season opener, the Jets have struggled to put points on the board and are averaging just 11 points in the three games that followed. Meanwhile the Texans have scored 27 or more points in every game this season.
