If I recall correctly, this story has been floating around for a while, that Morlon Greenwood has turned to boxing. On Thursday night, he'll make that debut in a bout at the Houston Club. How has the transition been, you ask?
↵↵↵"You don’t really hit someone with your hands, you hit them with your shoulder pads in football," Greenwood said. "Here you learn the technique. I think it was a pretty easy transition for me. I had a pretty good coach and I took the right steps — learning the technique and learning to box and punch before moving on to sparring.
↵"It’s only been a year of training and I’m learning how to box a lot faster than a lot of people that have been boxing for a few years, so we’ll see."

One of the best sports books I've read is Ghosts of Manilla by Mark Kram, about the Ali-Frazier fights. It's a great look at a sport that really peaked before my time. It's still fascinating to watch a great boxing match and to see guys get into the sport.
↵Let's hope Greenwood's experience is a good one and leads to a successful second career.
