Okay, so over at the National Football Post, Andrew Brandt takes on the realistic teams that may have a shot at Peyton Manning. It's not good news for anyone arguing that Houston should take a shot at him, since he brings up "reality" and "facts" and all sorts of no-fun things. Rivers did the same thing over at Battle Red Blog yesterday and made a lot of "sense."
↵I get it, too. I know the Texans chances of actually going after Peyton Manning weren't good. Matt Schaub is the guy and the Texans have a lot of money guaranteed to him. Plus, Manning wouldn't come cheap and this team will have some holes after this year's free agency is done.
↵Oh, and you add the injury risk, which is probably more pronounced with Manning than with Schaub, and the situation gets less and less likely.
↵I do like the idea of upgrading at quarterback, but I think it almost makes more sense to try and trade up to No. 2 and pick RGIII than to sign Peyton Manning. Neither are happening, you know, but it makes for good speculation.
