While Baylor WR Kendall Wright has been linked with the Houston Texans throughout most of the pre-draft season, the latest mock draft from SI.com has Wright going No. 22 to the Cleveland Browns, forcing Houston to go into a different direction at the WR position:
26
WR Rueben Randle LSU Jr. 6-4 208
I had Randle to the Texans in my second mock of the year, back in late February, before the combine. Every old becomes new again at some point. Houston could surprise most everyone and not take a receiver in the first round, I suppose, but with Kendall Wright already gone and Stephen Hill short on track record, why not opt for a proven playmaker from a big-time program?
At 6'3 210 with a 4.4 40, Randle has all the measurables of an elite WR, although that didn't translate into much production at LSU. As a junior, he caught 53 passes for 917 yards and 8 TD's.
However, in his defense, it would be hard for any college WR to put up good numbers if he had Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson behind center.
