Houston Texans Sign Kicker Shayne Graham, Likely To Groom Randy Bullock

The Houston Texans have officially replaced place kicker Neil Rackers, released following the 2011 season, with veteran kicker Shayne Graham. Graham is expected to compete with but also guide rookie Randy Bullock, the Lou Groza winner out of Texas A&M.

Graham was signed to compete for the starter's role, but the fact he hasn't kicked as a regular starter since 2009, and that the Texans spent a draft pick on a kicker in Bullock (the first time the Texans have done so in franchise history) would imply that Graham's addition is more to create a glorified coach for the future kicking game.

Playing for both Miami and Baltimore in 2011, Graham was six-of-seven on field goals. In 2009, his last fully active season, he was a strong 23-of-28 for the Cincinnati Bengals.
