Matt Schaub Contract Status: Quarterback Aware Of Lack Of Leverage

Matt Schaub has been the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans for the last five seasons. Yet, when it comes to negotiating a long-term deal to possibly finish his career in Houston, the 31-year-old Schaub knows he isn't working with much leverage.

With the team trying to lock up their All-Pro tackle in Duane Brown and pass-rushing linebacker, Connor Barwin, Schaub, who is entering the final year of his contract, isn't very high on Houston's priority list right now.

But he also doesn't seem to be too worried about it according to NFL.com:

"That stuff, if we take care of our business, get our job done, things will take care of themselves," Schaub told Nick Scurfield on a podcast for HoustonTexans.com. "But I love the city of Houston and want to be here for many years to come. It's important for me to finish what we started here, so I'm excited about what the future holds. Right now, it's just about getting ready for camp and just keeping the blinders on and keeping the focus on the next task."
