The Houston Chronicle's John McClain first reported Butler could be done for the year, and the team's official Twitter account confirmed the news after the game.

Butler, a six-year veteran of the NFL, had played in 34 games for the Texans over the last 3 seasons. He lost his starting right tackle spot earlier in the preseason, but was an important, experienced backup. He is in the final year of his contract with the Texans.
