2012 NFL Power Rankings: Texans Top AFC Teams

In his latest power rankings, Joel Thorman of SB Nation comes just short of crowning the Houston Texans as the NFL's best team.

In SB Nation's latest power rankings from Joel Thorman, the Houston Texans continued their ascent up the list to take over the No. 2 spot. As one of just two teams from the AFC to win both of their opening two games, the Texans did so in dominant fashion, winning each by 20 points.

Despite the strong wins, Thorman still doesn't think the AFC South team is being talked about enough:

2. Houston Texans (LW: 4, 2-0): Does it seem like people aren't talking about the Texans enough? Are they the best team in the AFC? Sure looks like it after two weeks.

The sole team ahead of the Texans in the rankings is the San Francisco 49ers, and considering their strong performances against teams much more highly thought of than the Dolphins and Jaguars, it's easy to see how the argument in their favor could be made. Houston, though, has a chance to solidify its status as an elite team when it travels to Denver to face the Peyton Manning-led Broncos.
