Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Kendall Timmons registered a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Tulane Green Wave to an 85-81 victory over the Rice Owls in a Conference USA showdown at the Tudor Fieldhouse.
Kris Richard scored 24 points in the win for Tulane (11-3, 1-0 CUSA). Aaron Holmes netted 13 points, while Jordan Callahan added 12.
Rice (8-7, 0-1) was led by a double-double of 28 points and 13 boards from Arsalan Kazemi, while Tamir Jackson and Trey Stanton each scored 12 points in the loss.
The battle was knotted up at 31 after the opening half expired as the Owls converted 51.9 percent of their shots from the floor while Tulane sunk 50.0 percent.
The Green Wave ultimately came away with the victory after sinking all seven of their attempts from beyond the arc in the second stanza, while shooting 12- of-18 from three-point land throughout the contest.
Tulane took full advantage of the Owls’ mistakes, converting 22 points off of 13 turnovers by Rice.
