Rice Keeps Upswing Going, Whomps Tulane 71-61

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) – Connor Frizzelle scored 25 points as the Rice Owls downed the struggling Tulane Green Wave, 71-61, in a Conference USA tilt at Fogelman Arena.

Tamir Jackson scored 20 points for Rice (11-11, 3-5 C-USA), while Arsalan Kazemi proved a terror on the glass, pulling down a game-high 19 rebounds to go with 11 points.

Kendall Timmons led the Green Wave (12-9, 2-6) in defeat, netting 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds. David Booker and Johnny Mayhane each added 12 points, while Kris Richard registered a team-high 11 rebounds.

Tulane led 31-25 with 1:06 remaining in the first half, before Rice reeled off six unanswered points to knot the game at 31-31 at intermission.

The Owls pulled away in the second half behind a 13-of-21 performance from the floor.

Rice took advantage of Tulane’s charity, hitting 18-of-20 free throws on the night. The Green Wave has now lost six straight games.
